It's All in the Attitude

The other day I was thinking about my life right before Abigail was born. We decided we were ready to start a family, so we bought a house and I quit my job. Everything was fine at first, and then we started to realize that we weren't "making it" like we thought we would. We didn't even have any extra money to buy any baby stuff. So I went out and got a job waiting tables to buy the baby stuff. We that got to be too much, I starting substitute teaching at our local school district (yes, I made more money waiting tables, better hours too)! God blessed me with a long term sub job replacing a reading specialist who had been in a car accident. I would be needed every day for the rest of the school year. It started looking like I would have to work after Abigail was born. Billy's job at Boeing was sending them home every other day because they didn't have enough work. Jobs working on planes are hard to find in the best of times, and he needed to keep that job because of the excellent health insurance (we only paid $10 for Abigail's birth, no you didn't misread that). I also want to insert here that we really were not living beyond our means. We had no debt except a $500 a month house payment and a $300 car payment. Of course, we also had to pay more than 1/4 of Billy's pay to child support. I became very upset about it, we both always planned for me to stay home, and things were not working out the way we had hoped. I was so angry about it all, I am ashamed to say that I was not the best person to be around. Life became all about me pouting because things were not going my way. Then one day I decided to change my attitude--yes it was awful that my sweet baby girl was going to have to go to day care while I taught school, and yes I was devastated that I would be taking care of her during the day, but this was how my life was, and I had to make the best of it. I started off by apologizing to God and my husband for my horrible attitude. Then I began praying like I should have been all along. I prayed for God's will, and I prayed the Word. I prayed that I would be the best keeper of my home I could be, even if I had to work. Then came my miracle! We had a HUGE financial blessing that paid off our car, and made it possible for me to stay home. This happened only a couple of days after Abigail was born. I really think that it was God's will for me to stay home, and if I had the right attitude about my situation earlier, I might have got my miracle earlier, who knows! I could have spend the last months of pregnancy lying on the couch reading instead of teaching. Oh well, I'm glad I learned my lesson in time. He may not come when you want Him to, buy He's ALWAYS on time! Thank you Jesus for blessing me with a wonderful life!

Excellent Post, and very very true! I too have found myself a little upset over things and situations only to realize the only thing I could change was my attitude. My mother told me all my life about everything you can't change people or situation only how you respond to them! I didn't too much like hearing it at the time but it's still the truth!!! Thank you for the reminder! I am glad you're home with your babies and I know they are too!!!
